Dean, Monique, Julia and Joseph Luker 4th February 2020

After being gripped by fishing as a young boy (but catching very little), when I joined Maidstone Victory Angling Society as a 9-year old junior Barry was the first person to spend any time with me. He took me on my initial steps to watercraft and how to actually catch fish: "why are you doing that, you Wally?". He filled me with enthusiasm and fuelled the obsession, though I do admit occasionally dropping off listening to some of his fishing stories; at least the repeats!! Through Barry I also got to know Mick and Dave Hayman, as well as Mick's friend Paul, all of whom have become become lifelong friends. With my father having moved away to the US, the more I think about it, the more I realise that I latched onto all 4 as the older male company I needed at the time (now, now....). So, Barry had a very meaningful and lasting impact on my life and I am truly grateful. Special wishes for Mick, Jim and Dom with the loss of two special people from their lives in such a short period. Tight lines Barry!! Dean
